Scrapbook Expo!!!

My Sis in Law Kris and I went to Orlando this weekend for a Scrapbook expo. It was fun! K and I had a good time, feels like we walked 20 miles (but honestly we probably did walk about 10-12!!! everything was SO far away w/o shuttles!!!!)

We got some great deals on paper (Like on a pack of 125 pages it was 2 for $15, so we each got one.) Got all kinds of stuff for the cruise and the Vegas pics from last year I've done nothing with! It was very cool they had TONS of stations set up and lots of deals and educational things. We shopped and shopped and shopped. Got all kinds of cool stuff and didn't spend to much!

So last night we were at a crop party from 5-midnight (LONG NITE) and they were closing up the show room and expo while we were in another huge area scrapping. Well they were moving these 500+ lb pods with all there stuff that they load into the trucks and stuff for all the expos.

well we had been hearing bangs and booms all night and then they would get on the microphone and tell the expo people to slow down and not do anything, no kids in the packing area, etc etc.

Well I was chatting with K and scrapping and we heard KA-BOOM and a girl scream, I mean toe curling screaming! Then they yelled if there was a doctor or nurse int he house. First it sounded like a joke b/c of the guys voice. Well no it was true they needed help.

one of the pods fell off the 12 inch stage and landed on 19 y/o girl crushing her rt leg, hip, and lower back area. So I came up figgering there'd be more help. Nope it was me and a fire-medic. So I held her neck (C-spine) and assessed the upper end and he did the lower. No pulse in the leg or foot (NOT a good thing!) and her leg was all contorted but there was no open wounds, just abrasions. But she had a crush injury and maybe a lower back injury! so scary, poor girl! And she was all bruised! Poor thing.

So obviously we called 911 or someone did and they came in, couldn't find a pulse either, put on a C-Collar, back boarded her and scooped her up and ran!!!! her rt leg was all twisted! YIKES! Kinda killed the scrap booking mood but still got some work done. I'm just hoping she'll be OK, all though I'll probably never know....

EEK! So that was our excitement for the weekend! Yowsa! ALWAYS something interesting going on!!!!

But still fun, none the less! :) K and I always have a good time together! Have a blessed day in the Lord!!!

OH PS

I know you all are asking for updates...

So joy is doing well. We had a rough weekend, she had HORRIBLE side effects to her pain medicine and had "the squirts" all weekend. I even missed Easter service b/c we couldn't leave her home! But I'm happy to say she is doing MUCH better and will be fine!!!

It is officially 10 DAYS until our CRUISE! YAY!!!!! I'm so so so so so so so so so so so excited I can't wait! This weekend my Sister in law and I are going to a scrapbook convention in Orlando! I can not wait it should be a blast and a weekend away from LIFE!!!

Of course all of my extra $$ for supplies went out the window to the dog and her broken butt, but we'll have fun nonetheless!

Mom is turning 60 next week (she'd KILL ME if she read this!) I think its awesome, she is so beautiful and I think will be GORGEOUS for her 60's!

OK I'm ready to leave work soon and I have to go pack for tomorrow leaving for Orlando! FUN! Have a blessed day in the Lord!

Our Pup was hit by a car!!!

Poor Joy!

Tuesday evening I was gardening, and we went to put joy in the patio b/c she got out and Matt had been holding her. Well just as matt was closign the door, this stupid orange cat that has been around and harrassing joy, popped up across the street and she took off after it!!!! We heard the car screech and her cry out then she came running back...We took her to the doggie hospital ER thing, to be evaluated. She had to stay there overnight, they ran a bunch of tests and gave her meds and pain killers, fluids, etc. They had to wait for the adrenaline rush to die down to see how much pain she was in and to be able to check her. The nurse was WONDERFUL and joy really liked her and was snuggling up to her and didn't panic when we left (very unusual for Joy)...so I feel comfortable w/her in their hands. I was a mess, called mom and she drove Matt and I and joy...

I left her there late that night, midnight i think? And we drove home. We waited all night to hear how she was but the ER vet had a couple of losses that night and things were bad...so we didn't hear from them until about 10am on Wednesday other then she is stable and OK. So of course I was a mess and up all night calling and checking on her! I got about 1/2 hour of sleep and was so exhausted and run down, puffy from crying so hysterical, still scared waiting on results, just a MESS so I took yesterday off.

BUT PRAISE GOD Joy is going to be OK!!! She broke her tail bone area right up by the pelvis toward the left side and its causing pain down her lt leg which is why she wouldn't sit or stand. (basically a mildly displaced fracture of the sacrum) Her lungs, bladder and kidneys look PERFECT and her legs are fine!! just the fracture on her backside (My baby broke her BUTT!!!) We were able to pick her up last night around 7!!!! It was so wonderful to see her OK!! She'll have to be still, very little exercise, no running, just out to potty and back inside. I have to crate her as much as possible the next month. She is on medication 3 times a day for pain and no jumping or running (This is going to be HARD!!! Have you SEEN how hyper my kid is?) The vet says she was definitly clipped by a car....( we weren't 100% sure, we HEARD it but didn't see it) But she is going to be OK!! I'm so relieved... She IS my baby, my kid, the only kid that we have! She fills some of the emptiness and need for caring for someone that we don't have yet b/c of our infertility. I would have been absolutely devestated to lose her!!! I don't know what we'd do w/o her!!! I love her so much!

It cost us an arm and a leg but it is so worth it to know she is OK and will be OK no permanant damage. Matt was sweet, he told my mom last night, "I can MAKE more money, I could never MAKE another Joy!!!" AWWW....So we are very blessed and very grateful that our kid is OK!!!
Have a blessed day in the Lord!!!

This is what she broke, its labeled #16 after the pelvis and before the tail:

I know its been a while.

Life has been crazy as usual. And well, I've just been struggling some and not really into writing.

Been just in the hum drum of every day life and being a nurse, wife, daughter, sister. Not really much going on. i can say that our cruise is in exactly 2 weeks and six days! YEE HAW! I can not wait! it will be wonderful to get away with my hubby and just relax together!

We found out today that one of our fellow nurses, her son was killed in a military flight accident this weekend. He is a U.S. Marine. We are so very very heart broken for her!! I'm at a loss. So many of my dear friends are struggling with major loss and heartbreak, and I'm breaking right along with them... I don't know what else to do, besides pray and hold them if they let me. But my heart hurts too, WITH them... *sigh*

Please keep F, and her family (Her son was AJ) in prayer over the next few weeks. It takes time for a military burial and she is single with not much family except a daughter and sister. So she will need all the help she can get.

Have a blessed day in the Lord.
